Scott Hercus Medical School Building

Scott Hercus Medical School Building

Client: University of Otago
Location: CBD Dunedin
Start Date: 2009
Completion Date: 2009

The focus of this building was to convert the existing building for use as laboratories, however, the major technicalities of the project were involved in the re-strengthening of the existing building structure and façade. The re-strengthening works involved chasing out triple skin brick masonry walls and installing structural steel frames, additional hidden structural ties and brackets, hand excavation and construction of new concrete foundation pads under the building.

Further works were completed on the building as a separate contract. These works involved extensive structural re-strengthening. We completed the specialist Heli-fix re-strengthening work as a specialist subcontractor.
