The brief was to construct an enclosure for the Port of Otago Straddle Carrier cranes to be maintained in. The reality was we had to construct a structural steel building that was in excess of 20m high, over the top of the existing straddle carrier shed, whilst the port continued operations as normal.
The structural steel skeleton building was constructed entirely by Lunds, with only minor structural steel being completed by a sub contractor.
The construction of this building was only physically possible with the methodology Lunds employed by using our 55T Crawler crane with luffing tower and 30T mobile with fly jib.
This project was completed to a high standard under challenging circumstances. A project that some admire us simply for attempting.
