The completion of this project marked a great achievement by the Lunds team. The complex includes 100 rooms, common room facilities and a commercial kitchen/ cafe over multiple levels and blocks.
Lunds were involved in this project from concept design through to delivery of a useable complex within a restrictive budget. Lunds were able to provide smart ideas with regard to design including repetitive design layouts and practical construction systems which ultimately provided the client with cost savings and programme gains through economies of scale.
Operating the site and construction in multiple pods, with each crew focusing on a set phase of construction proved an efficient and fast tracked construction methodology, allowing the structure to be completed in 9 months over the harsh winter in Queenstown.
The remote location and extreme winter conditions proved the greatest challenge for Lunds. However, the project remained well managed throughout due to exceptional communication with the client, consultants and sub contractors. This combined with our experienced and focused construction team allowed the project to be delivered 6 weeks ahead of schedule.
